Time for the Power TV Show
As of this post, the Power TV Show Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Hulu. Created by the uber talented, Courtney Kemp Agboh and produced by outspoken rapper, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Power is one of the most talked about shows on television. The story follows drug king pin, James “Ghost” St. Patrick as he runs his legitimate business Truth Nightclub. He has a reckless best friend, Tommy, whose short fuse brings more trouble than he’s worth. James is married to Tasha who instead of wanting her husband to go legit, actually wants him to remain a murderous, ruthless drug king pin. No spoilers here but it is a refreshing take on the life of a NY drug king pin.
Omari Hardwick stars as the emotional, complex and violent James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick. Hardwick successfully morphs from furious to calm to violent in a facial expression. His depth as an actor is evident as he owns every scene. Hardwick’s performances make the Hulu subscription worth it. Naturi Naughton stars as his loving yet money hungry wife. There is nothing one dimensional about Tasha St. Patrick. Tasha goes from dedicated wife to manipulative ball-and-chain to mother of the year. Tommy Patrick Egan or as I affectionately call him, “Ghost’s Worst Nightmare,” is explosively portrayed by Joseph Sikora. To know Tommy is to hate his f*&kin’ guts. Seriously, he is a delicious villain and yet I want to slit his throat.
